Air Flow and Air Movement
Leave space between boxes, furniture and other items to allow air to move freely within your self storage unit to prevent the chances of mold or mildew invading your belongings.
Invest in Silica Packets
Silica packets are designed to help prevent moisture and mildew build up. Place some inside your packaged goods to further prevent any risk of moisture.
Elevate Boxes Off the Floor
Cardboard boxes, upholstery, etc will absorb any moisture they can find. Elevate your items off of the concrete floor with wire shelving or 2”x4”s to help prevent moisture absorption.
Plan for the Long Term
Make sure to pack your items like a preservationist, appropriate storing methods and boxing will maximize the life of your items.
